Aims: By the end of the period, Ss will be able to practice phonics “cl” in “clothes, close” and “fl” in “flowers, floor”. B. Language focus: 1. Lexical items: ( Revision) 2. Phonics: “cl” in “clothes, close”; “fl” in “flowers, floor”. C. Teaching aids: - English book 4, chalk, board, computer. D. Procedures: I. Warm up : - Play Kim’s game II. New lesson: 1. Listen and repeat. - Tell Ss that they are going to practice saying the sounds of the letters “cl” in “clothes, close” and “fl” in “flowers, floor”. - Play the tape for Ss to listen and repeat twice. - Ask Ss to work in pairs. - Get some Ss to perform in front of the class. Check as a class and correct the pronunciation. 2. Listen and write. Then say aloud. - Set the context: How many questions are there? - Ask Ss to listen and tick. Then write. - Guide Ss how to write. - Play the tape twice for Ss to listen and tick. - Get Ss to compare with their partner. - Give feedback. Answers: 1. flowers; 2. close; 3. clothes; 4. floor. 3. Let’s chant. - Ask Ss to tell the name of the chant. - Have Ss to listen to the chant once. - Have Ss to listen and chant in chorus a few times. - Have Ss to chant each line. - Ask Ss to practice chanting in pair. - Listen and chant along. - Call some Ss to chant and the whole class give comments. Lexical items: ( Revision) 2. Sentence patterns C. Teaching aids: - English book 4, chalk, board. D. Procedures: I. Warm up: Net work ( by speaking) - What do you do at Tet? II. New lesson: 4. Read and write. - Set the context: Mai, What is she talking about? ( Tet) - Ask Ss to read and write. - Guide Ss how to get information. - Give feedback. Answers: 1. It’s Tet soon. 2. Mai’s family go to the supermarket and buy many flowers. 3. They decorate their house and make banh chung. 4. They vist their grandparents, teachers and friends. 5. Write about your Tet. What are you going to do? (write). What are you going to write about? (Tet) - Guide Ss how to write. - Ask Ss to write down. - Give feedback. 6. Project. - Guide Ss how to do. - Call some Ss to report the results to the class. III. Teaching aids: Ss’ book, chalk, board, radio, ect. D. Procedures: I. Warm - up: - Sing a song. II. New lesson: 1. Listen and tick. - Set the scene using pictures. How many questions are there? Which schools/ What day is it?/ Which activities? Which subjects are they? - Ask Ss to listen and tick - Check again instruction. - Play the radio twice. - Ask Ss to compare with their answer. - Give answers. Answers: 1. c ; 2. b ; 3. a ; 4. b. 2. Read and circle. - Set the scene: Who is this? (Peter). Read a text about Peter. - Help Ss read the text. - Call some Ss to read. - Guide Ss to answer. - Give feedback.
