 Unit 12: At the lake 
 (Lesson 1)
A. Aim:
 By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
 - Recognize and pronounce the letter Ll and its sound correctly
 - Understand, recognize and say the four Ll words

B. Procedure:
I. Warm-up: 
 Watching the Letter Ll video
II. New lesson:
1. Listen, point and repeat: 
 - Introduction of letter Ll, its sound and how to pronounce the words with Ll 
- Write on board the letter Ll to introduce to the students the new lesson.
- Instruct students how to pronounce the letter and the sound by saying: “This is the 
letter L /el/. The letter L says /l/.”
- Repeat several times and check students’ pronunciation 
- Use the phonics cards introduce lake, Lucy, leaf and lemons; read the words out 
loud and have students repeat.
- Use pictures to help students to understand the meanings of the 4 words.
- Stick the cards on board and have students repeat the words chorally several times 
2. Look and match (Workbook):
- Show the pictures
- Elicit things and name in the pictures
- Get sts point and say them one by one
- Call some sts point and say
- Have sts match the words with right pictures.
- Go around to look and check sts’ work - Give feedback
- Show the answer key

3. Look and circle (Workbook):
 - Show the content of the exercise
 - Point to each picture, have sts say what they are in the pictures
 - Run through the 4 words given – Sts listen and repeat

 Unit 12: At the lake 
 (Lesson 2)
A. Aim:
 The lesson helps students be able to:
 - practice words with l sound in situation;
 - Practice using words with u sound in simple sentences by chanting
 - Practice listening l sound in the 4 words and words with sound.

* Teaching aids: Phonics cards
B. Procedure:
I. Warm-up: 
 Play the game: Slap the board 
 4 words with letter L
II. New lesson:
1. Point and say:
- Show the pictures
- Elicit names of the things and name in the pictures: Lucy, lake, leaf, lemons
- Get sts point and say one by one
- Call some sts point and say
- Give feedback
2. Chant : - Show the chant with words with letter Ll on the board
 - Read through the sentences
 - Have listen and repeat the sentences
 - Play the tape a few times.
 - Ask them to listen again and repeat.
 - Have sts practice chanting in groups of 4
 - Call some groups chant aloud
 - Give feedback
3. Listen and tick: 
- Elicit names of things in pairs in the pictures given
- Give feedback
- Have sts run through the names of things again
- Present what they have to do in this part
- Play the CD. Have the students listen and tick (twice)
- Get sts’ answers
- Play the CD again. The students listen and check their answer 
- Give feedback

III. Projects (Workbook): Find and colour Lucy, lake, leaf, lemons
- Show the picture on the screen
- Ask sts to find where is Lucy/ lake/ leaf/ lemons
- Have sts listen to the things that teacher says and colour them one by one
