A. OBJECTIVES: 
1. Knowledge:
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to
- Ask and answer question about what someone can/ cannot do.
- Listen and tick the correct pictures.
- Sentence Patterns: What can you do? − I can ___.
- Vocabulary: can, skip, skate, cook, swim, but.
2. Skills.
- Listening and speaking.
3. Attitudes.
- Ss know to take care of their friends.
4. Competences:
- Co-operation love schools and about daily activities of someone.
- Self-study ability, ability to operate, live responsibly.
- Using language to talk about the days of the week.
B. TEACHING AIDS:
1. Teacher’s aids: Teacher’s book, projector/TV, laptop, flashcards, real objects
2. Student’s aids: school things
C. PROCEDURES: 
*. Warm up: 
- Let Ss remember some activities they can do
Remember some activities: read, cook, dance, skip, swim, skate, draw a picture, 
play , 
I. Presentation
1. Vocabulary:
-Can : có thể
-Can’t: không thể
-But: nhưng
-Skip: nhảy dây
-Skate: trượt patanh 
-Cook: nấu ăn
-Swim: bơi
- T reads, SS listen 
-T reads, ss repeat -Call some ss read
- Check
2. Dialogue:
*. Set the scene:
- Ask pupils to look at the picture to point at each character and elicit their answers 
to the questions:
Who’s this? What’s his/her name? What’s he/she doing? 
• Whole class: Have pupils turn their books to Page 30
- Ask pupils about the characters in the pictures 
- Explain the meaning of the language practised. 
- Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen, and point to the 
appropriate line in their books. 
- Play the recording again for pupils to repeat the lines in the speech bubbles.
- Repeat the steps a few times. 
- Some Ss role play and the others comment.
- Ask Ss to role play.
- Ask Ss to role play before the class.
3. Form
Elicit the sentence patter:

II. Practice
1. Point and say
- Play the CD for sts listen through the activities given
- Sts listen, point and repeat
- Explain the pattern:
 - What can you do?
 + I can ___________.
- Model
- Ask pupils to point and say about the activities by asking and answering Qs about 
them.
- Have pupils point and say a few times 
- Ask sts to practice in pairs to say about the activities base on the model
* Pairwork 
- Monitor the activity, check the pronunciation (stress, assimilation of sounds and 
intonation), and offer help when necessary. 
- Call on some pairs to perform the task at the front of the class. The rest of the 
class observe and give comments if possible. 
- Make a few questions to check pupils' comprehension of the language. 
- Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus 2. Listen and tick. 
- Have pupils look the activities given in each line .
- Get sts say aloud
- Tell the pupils that they are going to listen 3 dialoges and tick the correct 
pictures.
- Play the recording twice pupils to listen and choose the correct answers. 
- Compare the answers with the partner.
- Play the recording again pupils check their answers. 
- T gives the answer:
- Have pupils act out the dialogue in pairs or groups for correction.
- Ask some questions to ensure pupils’ comprehension of the listening text.
 * Answer: 1- b ; 2 - a ; 3- c
III. Production: Ask Ss to match the words with the correct pictures

- Tell them that they are going to practise asking and answering about the activities 
that they can or can’t do.
- Have pupils point and repeat the activities a few times. 
* Pairwork:
- Have pupils play roles according to the activities given to ask and answer.
- Call on some students to perform the task at the front of the class. The rest of the 
class observe and give respond. 
2. Let’s talk:
- Ask them to read the questions given.
- Ask pupils to answer the questions.
* Pairwork 
- Have pupils ask and answer in pairs.

- Play the recording again pupils check their answers.
