Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to - Ask and answer questions about dates. - Pupils can ask and answer about dates. - Listen and tick the correct calendars. - Sentence Patterns: What is the date today? − It’s ___. - Vocabulary: the first, the second, the third, the fourteenth, the twenty-second, the thirty-first, October, date, sorry 2. Skills. - Listening and speaking. 3. Attitudes/ Quality: - Live responsibly - Confident in learning and practice situations 4. Forming competence: - Self- study. - Communication and co-operation. B. TEACHING AIDS: 1. Teacher’s aids: Teacher’s book, projector/TV, laptop, flashcards, real objects 2. Student’s aids: school things C. PROCEDURES: *. Warm up: 1. Sing along and act the songs: “Days of the week” 2. Answer the question: What day is it today? – It’s Friday I. Presentation 1. Vocabulary: - Date : ngày ( tháng ) - October : tháng 10 - First, second, third .. - T reads, SS listen -T reads, ss repeat -Call some ss read - Check 2. Dialogue: *. Set the scene: - Ask pupils to look at the picture to point at each character and elicit their answers to the questions: Who’s this? What’s his/her name? What’s he/she doing? • Whole class: Have pupils turn their books to Page 24 - Ask pupils about the characters in the pictures - Explain the meaning of the language practised. - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen, and point to the appropriate line in their books. - Play the recording again for pupils to repeat the lines in the speech bubbles. - Repeat the steps a few times. - Some Ss role play and the others comment. - Ask Ss to role play. - Ask Ss to role play before the class. 3. Form Elicit the sentence patter: What is the date today? It’s ______________. II. Practice 1. Point and say - Play the CD for sts listen through the days of the week - Sts listen, point and repeat - Explain the pattern: + What is the date today? + It’s ______________. - Ask pupils to point and say about the days by asking and answering Qs about the days. - Have pupils look at the calendar - Have pupils point and days a few times - Ask sts to practiice in pairs to say about the days base on the model - Model * Pairwork - Monitor the activity, check the pronunciation (stress, assimilation of sounds and intonation), and offer help when necessary. - Call on some pairs to perform the task at the front of the class. The rest of the class observe and give comments if possible. - Make a few questions to check pupils' comprehension of the language. - Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus 2. Listen and tick. - Have pupils look the dates given in each line . - Get sts say aloud - Tell the pupils that they are going to listen four dialoges and tick the correct words. - Play the recording twice pupils to listen and choose the correct answers. - Compare the answers with the partner. - Play the recording again pupils check their answers. - T gives the answer: - Have pupils act out the dialogue in pairs or groups for correction. - Ask some questions to ensure pupils’ comprehension of the listening text. * Answer: 1- b ; 2 - c ; 3- a III.
