Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to - Ask and answer questions about the days of the week. - Pupils can ask and answer about days of the week. - Listen and tick the correct pictures. - Sentence Patterns: What day is it today? − It’s ___. - Vocabulary: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday July, have, day, today 2. Skills. - Listening and speaking. 3. Attitudes/ Quality: - Keep their things tidy - Confident in learning and practice situations 4. Forming competence: - Communication and co-operation. - Problem solving and creativity B. TEACHING AIDS: 1. Teacher’s aids: Teacher’s book, projector/TV, laptop, flashcards, real objects 2. Point and say - Play the CD for sts listen through the days of the week - Sts listen, point and repeat - Explain the pattern: + What day is it today? + It’s ______________. - Ask pupils to point and say about the days by asking and answering Qs about the days. - Have pupils look at the calendar - Run through the names days of the week – Sts listen and repeat - Have pupils point and days a few times - Ask sts to practice in pairs to ask and answer about the days base on the model - Model * Pairwork - Monitor the activity, check the pronunciation (stress, assimilation of sounds and intonation), and offer help when necessary. - Call on some pairs to perform the task at the front of the class. The rest of the class observe and give comments if possible. - Make a few questions to check pupils' comprehension of the language. - Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus 2. Listen and tick: - Have pupils look the days given in lines. - Get sts say aloud - Tell the pupils that they are going to listen four dialoges and tick the correct words. - Play the recording twice pupils to listen and choose the correct answers. Compare the answers with the partner. - Play the recording again pupils check their answers. Model: Call on one student stand in front of the class and teacher introduce him/her for the rest of the class and then the class respond. - Repeat the step with another students. * Pairwork: - Have pupils play roles according to the activities in the table given. - Call on some students to perform the task at the front of the class. The rest of the class observe and give respond. 2. Let’s talk: - Ask them to read the questions given. - Ask pupils to answer the questions. * Pairwork - Have pupils ask and answer in pairs. - Monitor the activity, check the pronunciation (stress, assimilation of sounds and intonation), and offer help when necessary. - Call on some pairs to perform the task at the front of the class. Listen and number: - Have pupils look at pictures a, b, c and d on page 21 of the Student Book. Give the identification of the characters with their activities. -Tell pupils that they are going to listen to the recording and match the information they hear to the pictures by numbering the boxes. - Play the recording twice for pupils to listen and number the boxes. Check their guess. Compare the answer with the partner. - Play the recording again pupils check their answers.
