 Lesson 1 (1, 2)
A. Objectives: 
 By the end of the period, Ss will be able to ask and answer questions about when a 
festival is.
B. Language focus:
1. Lexical items: Children’s Day, New Year, Teachers’ Day, Christmas. 
2. Sentences patterns:
 When is ..?
It’s on ..
C. Teaching aids:
- Ss’ book, chalk, board, radio, Cd, ect. 
D. Procedures:
I. Warm - up: 
- Listen to the song about Children’s Day.
II. New lesson: 
1. Look, listen and repeat
- Set the context: How many pictures are there? Who are they? (Tom and Mai). What 
are they doing? ( talking). What are they talking about? 
Now listen and repeat. 
- Ask Ss to repeat the instruction of the teacher: Listen and repeat. (In Vietnamese) 
- Play the tape and ask Ss: Are you ready? ( Yes) 
- Control Ss to listen and repeat twice. 
- Ask Ss to work in pairs. 
- Check some pairs and correct their pronunciation mistakes. 
- Elicit the new target language from the students. 
When is Children’s Day?
 It’s on the first of June.
- Introduce the new target to students: pronunciation, meaning, use

- Run through pictures and make sure students can pronounce new words.

D. Procedures:
I. Warm up:

II. New lesson: 
3. Listen and tick.
- Set the context: How many questions are there? 
- Ask Ss to name festivals in the pictures. - Note Ss to pay attention to festivals when they are listening.
- Ask Ss to listen and tick twice.
- Let Ss compare with their partner.
- Give feedback.

4. Look and write. 
- Ask Ss to look at the pictures. Answer the questions. 
How many pictures are there? Which festival is it?
- Ask Ss to write down the answers.

visit grandparents.

- Ss’ book, chalk, board, radio, Cd, ect. 
D. Procedures:
I. Warm up: 
- Let’s sing: Happy new year
II. New lesson:

- Set the scene: Who are they? (Mai and Linda). What are they doing? (talking). What 
are they talking about? Now listen and repeat.
