 Unit 13: In the school canteen 
 (Lesson 3)
A. Aim:
 - Help sts practice speaking the sentences to ask someone to look at someone 
or something; practice writing the letter Nn and complete the words; help sts 
pronounce again the /n/ sound and use the right words and sentences.
* Skills
 Speaking, Writing
* Sentence: He’s/ She’s having nuts.
* Teaching aids: Phonics cards
B. Procedure:
I. Warm-up: 
 - Greet students
 - Recite the Nn chant 
II. New lesson:
1. Let’s talk:
- Have sts look at things they eat in the pictures: nuts, noodles, chips, fish
- Point to picture a, model: He’s having nuts.
- Present for sts do the same with others
- Have sts work in pairs, base on the model to practice talking 
- Call some sts talk aloud
- Give feedback
2. Look and write; Look, write then say (3, 4 in Workbook)
- Guide sts to write letter Nn in Sts’ book and workbook
- Have sts write (trace) the letter N/n in lines in their books 
- Ask ss to fill in the gaps with suitable form of letter N/n
- Check and give feedback
 * Key: Nam Nick noodles nuts
3. Song:
 - Run through the words in the song;
 - Read – sts repeat
 - Play the CD. The students listen and sing along.
 - Play the CD again. The pupils sing and clap their hands.
 - Call some pairs sing aloud - Give feedback.
III. Reinforcement:
 - Have sts practice the sentence: He’s/ She’s having .. (with things they can 
 eat) 
 Review (Phil and Sue)
A. Aim:
 By the end of the lesson sts will be able to: 
 - Review what they’ve learnt from Unit 11 to Unit 13.
 - Practice reading skill and reading comprehension. 
B. Procedure:
I. Warm – up:
 Review the letters: Uu, Ll, Nn, Tt, Ff with their sounds
II. New lesson:
1. Listen and read: 
 - Present Phil and Sue
- Elicit the names of things and students in the pictures given
- Sts say 
- T check and correct
- Run through the names of things: Sue, Phil, Lucy, Nam, bus, teddy bear
- Sts listen and repeat
- Have sts look at the pictures
- Read sentences one by one – sts listen and repeat
- Have sts practice reading the dialogue in groups of 4 to 
- Call some sts read aloud
- Give feedback
2. Look and circle:
- Have sts retell names of things and sts in the dialogue
- Draw things on the board: bus, teddy bear
- Have sts look at the words given and decide which are mentioned in the dialogue 
above to circle
- Sts discuss in pairs to circle the words
- Call some sts come to the board and circle the words
- Have sts give feedback
- Check and give feedback
