Week 5 Date of teaching:3A, 3B ( 11/10/2021), 3C ( 12/10/2021) Period: 7 Unit 4: How old are you? Lesson 1: 1 - 4 A. OBJECTIVES: 1. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to - Ask and answer question about someone. - Sentence Patterns: Who’s that? − It’s_____. - Listen and tick the correct pictures - Vocabulary: Mr Loc, Miss Hien, Tony, who’s 2. Skills: - Develop Ss listening and speaking 3. Attitude/ Quality: - Ss confident in communicate with their friends. - Ss love English, friends and teacher. 4. Forming competence: - Ss ask and answer questions about someone. - Active participate in groups, ready to help their friends. B. TEACHING AIDS: 1. Teacher’s aids: Teacher’s book, projector/TV, laptop, flashcards, real objects 2. Student’s aids: school things C. PROCEDURES: *. Warm up: Chanting - Ask ss to read chant “ Is that name?” - Call some ss to ask and answer using “is that...?” - Give comment and mark - Lead in the new lesson. I. Presentation 1. Vocabulary: - Who : ai -Who’s that ? kia là ai - T reads, SS listen -T reads, ss repeat -Call some ss read - Check 2. Dialogue: *. Set the scene: - Ask pupils to look at the picture to point at each character and elicit their answers to the questions: Who’s this? What’s his/her name? What’s he/she doing? - Ask sts to look at the picture and listen to the dialogue in page 24 in their books. - Tell them that they are going to learn introducing their friends. - Ask ss to loot at pictures on page 24 and answer the questions: Who are they? Where are they? - Use a poster or two character puppets to present the situation. - Play the recording all the way through for sts to listen, and point to the appropriate line in their books. - Play the recording again for sts to repeat the lines in the speech bubbles. - Repeat the step a few times. - Elicit the model sentence: Who is that? It’s Tony - Explain vocab: + Who: ai - Practice with sts. - Divide the class into 2 groups. Ask sts to practice in pairs. - Go round and check sts to be able to repeat and understand the dialogue. 3. Form Elicit the sentence patter: Who is that? It’s Tony II. Practice 1. Point and say - Have pupils look at pictures. - Run through. - Use flashcards to teach sentences in the speech bubbles. Have sts repeat the phrases a few times. Who is that? It’s......... - Give instruction. - Point to each character in the picture and elicit the names and the words to fill the gaps. - Write the whole sentences on the board. - Have sts to repeat the sentences a few times. - Repeat the procedure with the second picture. - Ask sts work in pairs. - Call some pairs practice in front of the class. - Check sts’ mistake when necessary. - Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation. 2. Let’s talk. - Run through. - Give instruction. - Get sts to work in groups of three to interact. - Call a few groups to practise in front of the class. - Check ss’ pronunciation. 3. Listen and tick: - Have sts open the book page 25, and describe the pictures. - Set the scene: “you are going to listen to the recording and tick the correct picture.” - 1st: Play the recording all the way through for sts to listen while they are looking the pictures in their books - 2nd: Play the recording for sts to listen and tick the correct pictures. - Have sts trade their answers in pairs for correction - 3rd: play the recording for sts to check their answers. - Give feedback 1. 2. - Ask some questions to ensure Ss’ comprehension of the listening text. - Call ss to play role to complete the dialouge they heard - Give comment. III. Production: draw - Have each Ss draw a picture of himself/herself and put their name under it e.g. My name is Linh. D. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to - Ask and answer about the other speaker’s age. - Sentence Patterns: How old are you? – I’m ___. - Listen and fill the gapped sentences. - Vocabulary: Numbers 1 – 10 2. Skills. - Listening and speaking. 3.Attitude/ Quality: - Ss confident in communicate with their friends. - Ss love English, friends and teacher. 4. Forming competence: - Ss ask and answer questions about someone's age. - Active participate in groups, ready to help their friends. B. TEACHING AIDS: 1. Vocabulary: - How old: bao nhiêu tuổi -Years old: tuổi - Numbers from one to ten - T reads, SS listen -T reads, ss repeat -Call some ss read - Check 2. Dialogue: *. Set the scene: - Ask pupils to look at the picture to point at each character and elicit their answers to the questions: Who’s this? What’s his/her name? What’s he/she doing? - Introduce the picture on page 26 and ask some questions about the situations in the picture: + Who are they in the picture? + Where are they? - Procedure the first picture and explain what they say. - Repeat the procedure with the second picture. - Elicit the question: How old are you? I’m eight years old. - Ask ss to read in chorus and individual. - Check their understanding. - Play the recording through for sts to listen to the dialogue. - Play the recording again, pausing after each line for sts to repeat. - Divide the class into two groups: one group to repeat Miss Hien’s and Mai’s part. - Call on sts to practise in front of the class. - Give feedback. 3. Form Elicit the sentence patter: How old are you? I’m eight years old. II. Practice 1. Point and say - Ask sts to look at the pictures on page 26 - Give instruction. - Draw sts’ attention to the pictures. - Point to each character in the picture and elicit his/her name and age. - Write the whole sentences on the board. - Have sts to repeat the sentences a few times. - Repeat the procedure with the second picture. - Ask sts to work in pairs. - Call some pairs practice in front of the class. - Check sts’ mistakes when necessary. 2. Let’s talk. - Look at the picture and introduce. - Tell them that they are going practise asking and answering ages - Call sts to work in pairs. - Do as example if the sts don’t understand. - Look the pic and then work in pairs before class. - Give feedback. 3. Listen and write - Ask sts to describe the pictures. + Tell sts the way to listen. - Give instruction. - Play the tape all the way through for sts to listen. - Ask sts to listen again and write. - Ask sts to compare with their partners. - Call on some sts to check their answers. - Give feedback by opening the tape once and check.
