Week 10 Date of teaching:3A, 3B, 3C ( 15/11/2021 ) Period: 17 Unit 9: What color is it? Lesson 1: 1- 3 A. OBJECTIVES: 1. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to - Ask and answer questions about whether the other speaker has a school thing. - Listen and number the pictures. - Sentence Patterns: Is this / that your ___? ̶ Yes, it is. / ̶ No, it isn’t. - Vocabulary: desk, pencil sharpener, pen, pencil case 2. Skills: - Develop Ss listening and speaking 3. Attitudes/Quality: - Love their school things - To keep their school things clean 4. Forming competence: - Be able identify school things. - Work in pairs B. TEACHING AIDS: 1. Teacher’s aids: Teacher’s book, projector/TV, laptop, flashcards, real objects 2. Student’s aids: school things C. PROCEDURES: *. Warm up: Hang man - Ask ss to explain how to play - Give a word with nine letters ( pencil sharpener ) - Let’s play - Raise the winner - Lead in the new lesson. I. Presentation 1. Vocabulary: - Is this ? - Is that ? 2. Dialogue: *. Set the scene: - Ask sts to look at the picture and listen to the dialogue in page 58 in their books. - Tell them that they are going to learn about the school - Ask ss to loot at pictures on page 58 and answer the questions: Who are they? Where are they? - Use a poster or two character puppets to present the situation. - Play the recording all the way through for sts to listen, and point to the appropriate line in their books. - Play the recording again for sts to repeat the lines in the speech bubbles. - Repeat the step a few times. - Elicit the model sentence: Is that your pen? Yes, it is./ No, it isn’t - Practice with sts. - Divide the class into 2 groups. Ask sts to practice in pairs. - Go round and check sts to be able to repeat and understand the dialogue. 3. Form Elicit the sentence patter: Is that your pen? Yes, it is./ No, it isn’t II. Practice 1. Point and say - Have pupils look at pictures. - Run through. - Use flashcards to teach sentences in the bubbles. Have sts repeat the phrases a few times: Is that your.....? - Give instruction. - Point to each character in the picture ,elicit the names and the words to fill the gaps. - Write the whole sentences on the board. - Have sts to repeat the sentences a few times. - Repeat the procedure with the second picture. - Ask sts work in pairs. - Call some pairs practice in front of the class. - Check sts’ mistake when necessary. - Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation. 2. Let’s talk. - Run through. - Give instruction. - Get sts to work in groups of three to interact. - Call a few groups to practise in front of the class. - Check ss’ pronunciation. 3. Listen and tick. - Have sts open the book page 59, and describe the pictures. - Set the scene: “you are going to listen to the recording and tick the correct picture.” - 1st: Play the recording all the way through for sts to listen while they are looking the pictures in their books - 2nd: Play the recording for sts to listen and tick the correct pictures. - Have sts trade their answers in pairs for correction - 3rd: play the recording for sts to check their answers. - Give feedback 1. a 2.c 3.a - Ask some questions to ensure Ss’ comprehension of the listening text. - Call ss to play role to complete the dialouge they heard - Give comment. III. Production: Make a questions - Give things and ask ss to make a question and answer. - Let’s play - Comment D. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to - Pupils can ask and answer questions about the colour(s) of the school thing(s). - Listen and number the pictures. - Sentence Patterns: What colour is it? / What colour are they? It’s __. / They’re __. - Vocabulary: box, blue, white, yellow, brown, green, orange 2. Skills. - Listening and speaking. 3. Attitudes/Quality: - Love their school - Ss work hard in the lesson. 4. Forming competence: - To know some colours - Active participate in groups, ready to help their friends. B. TEACHING AIDS: 1. Teacher’s aids: Teacher’s book, projector/TV, laptop, flashcards, real objects 2. Student’s aids: school things C. PROCEDURES: *. Warm up: Make questions - Call two groups of four to the front of the class. - Have one group point to something that is near or far and ask Is this ? Or Is that .. And the other groups answer the question. - Give comments. - Lead in the new lesson. I. Presentation 1. Vocabulary: - Colour: màu sắc - Red: màu đỏ ( pic) - Green: màu xanh lá ( pic) - Blue: màu xanh biển ( R.O) - White: màu trắng ( R.O) - Yellow: màu vàng (pic) - Orange: màu cam (pic) - brown: màu nâu (pic) - Ask ss to read in chorus and individually - Check vocab: Matching 2. Dialogue: *. Set the scene: - Introduce the picture on page 60 and ask some questions about the situations in the picture: + Who are they in the picture? + Where are they? - Procedure the first picture and explain what they say. - Repeat the procedure with the second picture. - Elicit the question: What colour is/ are your......? It is/ they’re........... - Ask ss to read in chorus and individual. - Check their understanding. - Play the recording through for sts to listen to the dialogue. - Play the recording again, pausing after each line for sts to repeat. - Divide the class into two groups: one group to repeat Nam’s and Mai’s part. - Call on sts to practise in front of the class. - Give feedback. 3. Form Elicit the sentence patter: What colour is/ are your......? It is/ they’re........... II. Practice 1. Point and say - Ask sts to look at the pictures on page 60 - Give instruction. - Draw sts’ attention to the pictures. - Point the characters of pictures - Write the whole sentences on the board. - Have sts to repeat the sentences a few times. - Repeat the procedure with the second picture. - Ask sts to work in pairs. - Call some pairs practice in front of the class. - Check sts’ mistakes when necessary. 2. Let’s talk. - Look at the picture and introduce. - Tell them that they are going practise asking and answering school facilities - Call sts to work in pairs. - Do as example if the sts don’t understand. - Look the pic and then work in pairs before class. - Give feedback. 3.Listen and number - Ask sts to describe the pictures. + Tell sts the way to listen. - Give instruction. - Play the tape all the way through for sts to listen. - Ask sts to listen again and number. - Ask sts to compare with their partners. - Call on some sts to check their answers. - Give feedback by opening the tape once and check. * Key: 1.b 2.c 3.a 4.d - Call ss to play role some characters in the pictures - Comment III.
