 Warm-up: Play the Circle jump game.
 - Divide the class into two groups and make two lines to play the game.
 - Draw two large circles on the ground with chalk.
 - Place a flashcard in each circle.
 - Call out a word, and a student from each team has to run and stand inside the 
 corresponding circle as quickly as possible. 
 - Ask them to say the word when standing inside the circle.
 The first student getting the correct answer wins a point for their team. 
 Present the sentence pattern. 
 - Use DCR on Eduhome to show to the class the sentence structure in Part E, page 73 
 in their Student’s Book.
 - Give the students enough time to look at the target sentence structure and have 
 them read it silently.
 - Continue asking them what sport in each picture is.
 - Control the class and give them help if needed.

Activity 1: Practice (Activity E. Point, ask, and answer. )
- Divide the class into two pairs.
- Demonstrate the activity using the speech bubbles.
- Have the student A point and ask, have the student B answer.
- Swap roles and repeat.
- Afterwards, have some pairs demonstrate the activity in front of the class.

 Warm-up: Play the Snake game.
 - Have the class stand up and play the game.
 - Give the ball to the first student and ask them to begin by saying a sport. 
 - Then the first student passes the ball to any of their friends. The second friend will 
 name another sport.
 - The students who are unable to say the sports will sit down. The last student who 
 stands up at the end of the game is the winner.
 Lead in the new lesson. 
 A. Activity 1: Language input (Activity A- 1. Listen and point. Repeat.) (CD2 
 Track 60) 
 Arrange the flashcards (watch TV, go skateboarding, go out, go swimming) on the 
 board.
 - Ask the students to listen and pay their attention.
 - Use DCR on Eduhome to play the audio and point to each flashcard. 
 - Then play the audio again and have them point to the pictures in their Student’s 
 Books.
 - Play the audio and require them to listen and repeat.
 - Help them with their pronunciation if necessary.
 - Have the class work in pairs. One student randomly points to the pictures in their 
 book, and the other one says the phrases. Then have them swap roles and continue 
 this activity.
 Walk round the class and support them if needed.

 - Have one student come to the front of the class.
 - Hold one flashcard facing your body so no one can see it.
 - Very quickly show the flashcard to the student and hide it again.
 - Have the students guess the new word on the flashcard.
 - Repeat with other students and flashcards.

 read the useful language silently.
 - Explain that we use this to ask for, grant, and deny permission to do things. Explain 
 that children use “May I ?” to ask adults for permission, and adults usually use 
 “Yes, you may./ No, you may not.” to grant or deny permission to children. 
 - Play the audio and have them listen to the useful language.
 - Ask them to work in pairs and practice the useful language.
 - Require them to use the vocabulary from Part A.

- Have ss look at the pictures in their books on page 12 elicit some phrasal verbs :

- Tell Ss that they are going to practice expressing and responding to concerns about 
possible accidents at home, using the sentence patterns: Don’t ...! OK, I won’t
- Point to the first picture and model the task with one student, using the expressions in 
the bubbles and the word under the picture. 
Teacher: Don’t ride your bike too fast! Student: Ok, I won’t.
- Ask students to say the phrases chorally and individually. Repeat the same procedure 
with the rest of the pictures. 
- Ask students to practice in pairs, using the prompts in the bubbles and the pictures. 
- Call on some pairs to role - play the dialogue in front of the class. Monitor the 
activity and offer help, if necessary.

Activity 1: Language input (Activity 1: Look, listen and repeat.)
- Ask students to look at the four pictures (page 14) and answer questions to identify 
the situation for the conversation.
1. Who are they? (They are Miss Hien, Mai and Nam)
2. Where are they? (in the classroom)
3. What are they doing? (talking about dangerous actions.)
- Ask students to look at picture b (Activity 1) (page 14) and answer the following 
questions: 
4. What is the boy doing? (He’s climbing the apple tree)
5. What does Miss Hien ask Nam? (Why shouldn’t he climb the tree)
- Elicit the sentence patterns: Why shouldn’t I ___? − Because you may ___. 
- Tell students that they are going to practise asking and answering questions about 
accident prevention.
 - Play the recording more than once, if necessary, ask students to listen and repeat the 
dialogue 
- Do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the characters speaking.
- Play the recording again for students to listen and repeat. 
Activity 2: Controlled & guided practice
Task 1: Controlled practice (Activity 2: Point and say.)
- Use pictures to elicit: a. play with the knife, cut yourself , b. play with the stove, get 
a burn , c. ride too fast, fall off your bike , d. run down the stairs, break your arm.
 - Point to the first picture and model the task with one student, using the expressions in 
the bubbles and the word under the picture. 
Teacher: Why shouldn’t I play with the knife? Student: Because you may cut 
yourself
- Ask students to say the phrases chorally and individually. Repeat the same procedure 
with the rest of the pictures. 
- Ask students to practice in pairs, using the prompts in the bubbles and the pictures. 
- Call on some pairs to role-play the dialogue in front of the class. Monitor the activity 
and offer help, if necessary. 
Task 2: Guided practice. ( Activity 3: Let’s talk)
- Tell the class that they are going to practice by talking about accident prevention, 
using: 
+ What is he/she doing? He/ She is ..
+ He/ She shouldn’t do that!
+ Why shouldn’t he/she ? Because he/she may 
- Set a time limit for the class to practice talking in pairs. 
- Go around the class and offer help, if necessary.
- Invite a few pairs to act out their exchanges in front of the class.
- Give feedback.
Activity 3: Wrap -up & Assignments
- Ask students to answer the following questions: 
1. What have you learnt from the lesson today? (Ask and answer questions about 
accident prevention, using: Why shouldn’t I ___? − Because you may ___. 
2. What’re the core values of the lesson? (Know what is dangerous and warn others 
against doing such things and educate Ss how to keep safe and prevent accidents.)
