Week 1: Class 3 Date of teaching: 07/9/2022 REVIEW A. OBJECTIVES 1. Knowledge By the end of this lesson, pupils will be able to: - Review the old knowledge 2. Skills: Listening and speaking, reading and writing skills 3. Competences - Problems solving and creation - Communication and cooperation - Self-learning, independent working and pair work, group work - Linguistic competence 4. Quality - Humane - Hardworking - Responsible - Honest B. TEACHING AIDS 1. Teacher’s aids: Teacher’s book, projector/TV, laptop, flashcards, real objects, worksheet. 2. Students’ aids: Students’ books, workbooks, C. PROCEDURES Warm-up :“Memory” game - Divide the class into three teams. - Invite one student from each group to come to the board. - Place some flashcards or writes some words on the board (about 15 – 20 flashcards or words). - Give the students some time to memorize as much words as possible. - When the time is up, the students write down what they have memorized. - The student who has the most correct words gets points for his/her team. Repeat with different students. 1. Activity 1: Look. Match. (Give each student a worksheet. ) - Have students look at the pictures and call out what they can see. - Demonstrate the activity using the example. - Have students match the objects with their shadows and the corresponding words. Check answers as a whole class. 2. Activity 2: Look. Write. (Give each student a worksheet.) - Divide the class into pairs. - Have Student A calls out the words. - Have Student B writes down the words under the corresponding pictures. Check answers as a whole class. 3. Activity 3: Listen. Circle. (Give each student a worksheet.) - Have students identify the pictures and call out their names, guess the correct pictures could be. - Play audio. Demonstrate the activity using the example. - Play audio. Have students listen and circle. - Play audio. Have students listen again and check. - Check answers as a whole class. Transcript Example: I want to go to the zoo. 1. I want to go to the park. 2. These are my T-shirts. 3. Can you see a plane? – Yes, I can. 4. Pick up your eraser, please. 5. I can count numbers. 4. Activity 4: Conversation line - Have students make two lines and stand face to face. - Give each student a picture / flashcard. Student 1 of the first line asks a question. E. g. “Can you see the bus?” Then student 1 of the second line answers. E.g “Yes, I can.”. Swap roles and continue to the end of the lines. * Consolidation. - Consolidate the content of the lesson. PROCEDURES Activity 1: Warm-up - Play the Go get it game. - Divide the class into two teams. - Place the flashcards around the board. - Say the word twice so that the students can hear. - Say “Go get it” and then the student from each team has to run quickly to find and grab the flashcard the teacher said and they have to repeat the word. The team with the most flashcards at the end wins. Activities 1. Read and match • Tell the class that they are going to read the passage and match in the blanks w • Give them a few seconds to read the passage. Check their understanding. Then ask them to read the text in silence and do the task independently. • Get them to swap and read their answers before checking as a class. Announce the answers to the class. Give explanations for the answers which pupils find difficult. Activity 2. Read and answer • Tell the class that they are going to read the questions A and answers B. • Give a time limit for them to do the task independently. Go around offering help, if necessary. • Get pupils to swap and compare the answer with their patterns. - Call some pairs to role play in front of class and give feedback. Activity 3: Look and write - Tell the class that they are going to look at the pictures, read the questions and write the answers - ss work in pairs. - Open-pairs; close- pairs. - Give comment. Activity 4:Wrap-up & Assignments - Ask students to answer the following questions: 1. What have you learnt from the lesson today? - Read the pasage and fill in the blanks; read questions and match with the correct answers. 2. What’re the core values of the lesson? - Show loving friends, toys, pets and respect them . - Remind students to learn new words and structure by heart. - Prepare for the Short story ‘’Cat and mouse 4’’ . Students’ aids: Students’ books, workbooks, C. PROCEDURES Task 1:Work in pairs. Ask your partners what time is it - Tell pupils that they are going to ask and answer questions about time. - Get pupils to work in pairs, one pupil asks What time is it? and the other looks at their wristwatch and answers It’s + (time) - Invite a few pairs to role-play in front of the class - Give comments. Task 2 : Let’s talk - Ask them to work in pairs, using What time is it? and What time do you ...? - Set a time limit for the class to practice - Go around the class and offer help, if necessary. - Call a few pairs to act out their conversation. - Give feedback. Task 3: Point and say - Use picture to elicit: father/farmer, mother/ nurse, uncle/ driver, brother/ factory worker - Point to the first picture and model task with one pupil, using the expressions in the bubble and the word under the picture (T: What does your father do? – S: He’s farmer) - Ask Ss to say the phrase chorally and individually. Repeat the same procedure with the rest of the pictures - Ask Ss to practice in pairs, using prompts in the bubbles and the pictures - Select some pairs to role play the dialogue in front of the class. Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary Task 4: . Let’s talk. - Tell S that they are going to offer someone food or drink and accept/decline someone’s offering : would you like some ?yes, please/ no, thanks. - Ask S to work in pairs. Then they swap roles. - Select some pairs to act out the dialogue in front of the class. - Get Ps to play the “pass the ball” game. Task 5 : Work in pairs. Tell your partners about favourite food/drink of their family members - Have Ss choose activities that their family members’ job and tell their classmate using “What’s your favourite food/drink? It’s ...” - Ask them to interview 3 friends: one pupil asks the question and the other answers with facts about themselves and the exchange the role - Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary Task 6. Point and say. Pg 24 - T has Pupils look at Picture a, b, c, d, e. Tell them that they are going to practice asking and answering questions about someone’s physical appearance. - T models with a Student the first picture - T asks Pupils to practise in pairs ask and answer the questions What does he/ she look like? She’s/ He’s ..Monitor the activity, check the pronunciation (stress, assimilation of sounds and intonation), and offer help when necessary. - T calls on some pairs to perform the task in front of the class. Task 7: Point and say. Pg 30 - Ask Pupils to look at Picture a, b, c, d, e. Tell them that they are going to practice asking and answering questions about the popular festivals. - Model with a Student the first picture - Ask Pupils to practice in pairs ask and answer the questions: When’s New Year?- It’s on . - Monitor the activity, check the pronunciation (stress, assimilation of sounds and intonation), and offer help when necessary. - Call on some pairs to perform the task in front of the class. Task 8: Let’s talk. - Ask them to work in groups to ask answer questions about some activities on/ at a festival, using What do you do at/ on +(a festival)? I ? - Go around offering help and correcting pronunciation, if necessary. - Select some groups to role-play in front of the class. - Ask pupils to ask and answer questions about some activities on/ at a festival. - Asking Ps to focus on the structure once again. Task 9: Let’s talk Ask Ss to open their book on page 40, work in pairs, point the pictures, practice making and responding to suggestions to go somewhere. - Point to the first picture and model the task with one pupil, using the question and the answer in the bubbles and the phrase under the picture. Ex: a) T: Let’s go to the bakery. I want to buy some bread. P: Great idea. - Ask pupils to say the question and the answer chorally and individually. - Ask pupils to practice in pairs, using the prompts in the bubbles and the phrases under the pictures. - Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary. * Activity 5: Wrap- up and assignment - Ask Ss to answer the following questions: 1. What have you learnt from the lesson today? 2. What’re the core values of the lesson? D. FEEDFBACK. . ..
