Week 2 Date of teaching: 1A, 1B ( 20/9/2021), 1C ( 21/9/2021) Period: 1 GETTING STARTED Lesson 1+ Lesson 2 A. OBJECTIVES 1. Knowledge By the end of this lesson, students will be able to - Say “ hello” and “goodbye” - Follow some simple instructions - Talk about classroom commands, using: Sit down. - Vocabulary: Hello, goodbye, stand up, sit down and listen 2. Skills: Listening and speaking skills 3. Competences - Problems solving and creation - Communication and cooperation - Self-learning, independent working and pair work, group work - Linguistic competence 4. Quality - Humane - Hardworking - Responsible - Honest B. TEACHING AIDS 1. Teacher’s aids: Teacher’s book, projector/TV, laptop, flashcards, real objects 2. Students’ aids: Students’ books, workbooks, rulers, eraser, ruler, crayon, pencil case. C. PROCEDURES Warm-up : Say “Hello!” - Go around the class, say “Hello!” to students, one by one, and have them say “Hello!” - Ask them say “Hello!” to their neighboring friends. I. Presentation 1. Teach vocabulary - Give situations to introduce the new words: (Hello, goodbye, stand up, sit down and listen.) - Have students listen to each new word. - Show the pictures of the part A on the projector and ask students to open the books. - Play audio, and point to each flashcard for students to listen - Play audio again and have students point to the pictures in their books. - Play audio again and have students listen and repeat. - Have students work in pairs, one of them points to the picture in the book and the other says the word. - Call some pairs to the board and check. II. Practice 1. Listen and point. - Introduce the situation: "The teacher says hello " - Play audio and have students look at the pictures. - Demonstrate the activity by pointing at "boys", "girls", and "teacher" in the picture. - Point at each picture and have students read the sentences “Hello, boys and girls .” - Point at each word and have students call it out “Stand up/ sit down/ listen.” III. Production 1. Role-play. - Say a name to the class. - Have students practice the structure using the name. - Repeat with other names. E.g. Teacher: "Bill" Class: "Hello, Bill." - Divide the class into pairs. - Have pairs practice the conversations and swap roles. - Have some pairs demonstrate the activity in front of the class. 2. Play “Simon says”. - Have students give some examples. - Have students follow commands that start with “Simon says ” - Give them different commands with or without “Simon says ” such as “stand up”, “Simon says stand up”, etc. If it doesn’t start with “Simon says ”, students who do the action must sit down. - Have one student stand in front of the class to be Simon. - Have students swap roles and repeat. Knowledge By the end of this period, pupils will be able to: - Review numbers from one to ten - Ask how old someone is - Follow some simple instructions - Talk about classroom commands, using: Open your book (please). - Vocabulary: one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, open your book, close your book, hands up, hands down. - Grammar point: How old are you?- I’m (eight). Open your book (please). 2. Skills: Listening and speaking skills 3. Teach vocabulary - Use some realias to introduce the new words (one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten) - Have students listen to each new word. - Show the pictures of the part A on the projector and ask students to open the books. - Play audio, and point to each flashcard for students to listen (CD1 - Track 02) - Play audio again and have students point to the pictures in their books. - Play audio again and have students listen and repeat. - Have students work in pairs, one of them points to the picture in the book and the other says the word. - Call some pairs to the board and check. - Use some realias to introduce the new words (open your book, close your book, hands up, hands down). - Have students listen to each new word. - Show the pictures of the part A on the projector and ask students to open the books. - Play audio, and point to each flashcard for students to listen (CD1 - Track 05) - Play audio again and have students point to the pictures in their books. - Play audio again and have students listen and repeat. - Have students work in pairs, one of them points to the picture in the book and the other says the word. - Call some pairs to the board and check. - Organize for students to play the game "Heads up. What's missing?" game - Divide the class into two teams. - Arrange the flashcards on the board and remove one card when students are not looking. - One student from each team calls out the missing flashcard. 2. Introduce sentence pattern - Have students look at the picture, identify it and call out the things they can see. Ask some questions about the picture. - Introduce the situation. “The students are at the park. The teacher is asking the students how old they are . What does the teacher ask the students? Now listen to the story. (CD1 – Track 03) - Play audio and have students listen and repeat. - Ask pupils what does the teacher ask Sue/Bill/ Lucy? How old are you?- I’m .. - Use pictures to introduce classroom commands. - Have students listen to each new word. - Have students listen to each new word and repeat all together and individually. Correct student’s pronunciation if necessary. - Arrange the flashcards on the board, play audio, and point to each flashcard. - Play audio again and have students point to the pictures in their books. - Play audio again and have students listen and repeat. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: - Ask and answer questions about the other speaker’s address. - Sentence Patterns: What’s your address? – It’s _______. - Vocabulary: numbers, address, lane, road, floor, flat, tower 2. Skills: - Listening and speaking skills 3. Competences - Problems solving and creation - Communication and cooperation - Self-learning, independent working and pair work, group work - Linguistic competence 4. Let’s talk - Tell the class that they are going to practice further by asking and answering questions about addresses. - Get pupils time to work in groups of four to ask each other’s addresses, using the structure. - Invite a few pupils to repeat their interviews to the class. - Give feedback 3. Listen and complete - Tell pupils that they are going to listen to the recording and complete the addresses. - Give time for pupils to read the sentences and guess the missing words they need to fill the gaps. - Play the recording the second time for pupils to listen and complete. - Ask pupils to give answers - Play the recording again for pupils to listen and check - Give correct answers. Production “Slap” game - Split the class into four teams. - Have them stand in four lines. - Write words( address, , tower, lane, village, road, flat)on the board. - Have four students come to the board to face off. - Call out a word (E.g. address and have students run to the board then slap the word.The winner is the student who slaps the correct word at first.
