OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Identify some activities (swim, sing, run) from the recording and the given pictures, talk about their abilities. (Cognition) 2. Identify the situations for conversations Bill, Sue (setting, participants, topic) and the sentence pattern I can run. (Skill) 3. Perform the song in interesting ways by using appropriate tone and meaningful gestures;(skill) 4. Show their responsibility and respect for each other while taking part in activities and positive attitudes, appropriate gestures and intonation in suggesting activities or replying.(attributes) B. LANGUAGE FOCUS Vocabulary Activities: swim, sing, run. Sentence patterns I can run C. Remind ss to the previous lesson Then get the class to watch a video about some activities - Elicit the activities mentioned in the song (swim, sing, run) and lead them to the new lesson by saying “You are going to know some activities in the new lesson today.” Activity 2: Language in put (Activity A: Listen and point. Repeat. – P.38) - Show pictures onTv, play audio, point to each picture - Have students listen to each new word. - Have ss look at their books, play audio again, and point to each picture in their books. - Play audio again and have students listen and repeat. - Use flashcards and ask ss to read the words aloud *play the games with flashcards - Call some students to read aloud (Give feedback) Activity 3: Language in put (Activity B: Listen and point. – P.38) - Show the situational picture (Activity B on page 34) and ask the following questions to help them identify the situation or the context. 1. Point to the girl, ask “who is the girl?” (Sue.) 2. Point to the boy, ask “who is the boy?” (Bill.) 3. Point to the activity in each picture and ask : What activity is it? Set the sence : They are talking about their abilities - Play the recording (Track 02 ), point to the picture while listening. - Play the recording again, ask students to look at the picture in their book, listen and point to the picture. - Have students look, listen and say aloud the sentences - Elicit the sentence pattern: I can ( run) and explain the meaning and the use. (I can is used to talk about abilities.) - Call on a student to listen and point, the whole class look at picture and say the sentence. - Give constructive feedback and correct their pronunciation if necessary. Activity 4: Practice (Activity C: Sing – P. 38) - Show the lyrics on TV - Play the recording and have students listen. - Play the recording again, have students do actions along - Play the recoprding again, have students listen, sing along, and do the actions. (Give feedback). - Remind Ss to look at the lyrics on page 68 if necessary. Activity 5: Wrap-up & Assignments/ home-link. 1. What have you learnt from the lesson today? (I want to go to the .” is used to say where we want to go.) - Call on a student to listen and point, the whole class look at picture and say the sentence. - Give constructive feedback and correct their pronunciation if necessary. Activity B: Listen and number – P. 40 - Have ss turn their books to page 70, Tell Ss that they are going to listen to the recording and number the pictures. - Ask them to look at the pictures to identify the places (playground, zoo, beach). Check their understanding. - Play the recording all the way through for ss to listen, as they look closely at the in their books. - Play the recording again for ss to listen and number - Replay the recording for ss to check their answers. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: (Cognition, Skill, Attribute, and Competence) 1.Identify the situation for the conversation between Tom, Mr Green and Mrs Green (setting, participants, topics); 2. Ask and answer questions about common health problems, using “What’s the matter with you? I have ” 3. Identify specific information through listening to conversations about common health problems; 4. Have a sense of taking care of their own health and identify how to prevent some common diseases. B. Activity 1: Language input (Activity 1: Look, listen and repeat.) - Ask students to look at the four pictures (page 6) and answer questions to identify the situation for the conversation. 1. Who are they? (They are Tom, Mr Green and Mrs Green) 2. Where are they? (At home) 3. What are they doing? (talking about Tony’s health problem.) - Ask students to look at picture b (Activity 2) (page 6) and answer the following questions: 4. What does Mrs Green ask? (What’s the matter with you?) 5. What does Tony answer? (I have a headache.) - Elicit the sentence patterns: What’s the matter with you? I have a/an - Tell students that they are going to practise asking and answering questions about common health problems. - Play the recording more than once, if necessary, ask students to listen and repeat the dialogue - Do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the characters speaking. - Play the recording again for students to listen and repeat. Activity 2: Controlled & guided practice Task 1: Controlled practice (Activity 2: Point and say.) - Have ss look at the pictures in their books on page 6 elicit the name of places: a. a toothache; b.an earache c.a sore throat d.a stomachache. - Tell Ss that they are going to practise asking and answering questions about common health problems, using the sentence patterns: What’s the matter with you? I have a/an - Point to the first picture and model the task with one student, using the expressions in the bubbles and the word under the picture. Teacher: What’s the matter with you? Student: I have a headache. - Ask students to say the phrases chorally and individually. Repeat the same procedure with the rest of the pictures. - Ask students to practice in pairs, using the prompts in the bubbles and the pictures. - Call on some pairs to role - play the dialogue in front of the class. Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary. Task 2: Guided practice. ( Activity 3: Let’s talk) - Provide students with flashcards about common health problems. - Ask students to work in pairs asking and answering questions about common health problems using What’s the matter with you/him/her/them? I have a/an .. He/She has a/an . They have a/an - Go around offering help, if necessary. - Call on some pairs to demonstrate the task in front of the class. - Give constructive feedback and comments on the reports and correct Ss’ mistakes if necessary. Activity 3: Listening practice (Activity 4: Listen and tick) - Have ss turn their books to page 7, Tell Ss that they are going to listen to the recording and tick the problem of each character. - Ask them to look at the grid to identify the names (Nam, Peter, Linda and Tony) and health problems (headache, sore throat, toothache and stomach ache). Check their understanding. - Play the recording all the way through for ss to listen, as they look closely at the in their books. - Play the recording again for ss to listen and tick correct pictures. - Replay the recording for ss to check their answers. Activity 4: Wrap -up & Assignments - Ask students to answer the following questions: 1. What have you learnt from the lesson today? ( Activity 3: Let’s talk) - Have students think that their friends are not well. They must give advices on their friends’ health problems. Eg: S1: I have a toothache. S2: You should go to the doctor. S1: Ok, I will. Thanks. - Monitor the activity and offer help if necessary. - Ask students to give their feedback. Activity 3: Listening practice (Activity 4: Listen and complete.) - Ask Ss to open their books on page 9. Tell Ss that they are going to read the text and fill in the gaps with the words given: rest, stomach, matter, has, doctor. - Give Ss a few seconds to read the text. Remind them to focus on the context to select the appropriate words from the box. - Give time to do the task independently.
