A. OBJECTIVES
1. Knowledge
 By the end of this lesson, students will be able to say names of some animals using 
“I like ” and “This is a ”
- Vocabulary: cat, dog, bird, monkey, snake, bear.
- Structures: I like (cats), This is a ( bear).

C. PROCEDURES
* Warm up: Play “Animals” song (from YouTube) and make gestures following the 
lyric, have students stand up and make the gestures
* New lesson
- Introduce the new lesson and write on the board.
I . Presentation
1. Teach vocabulary 
- Use flash cards to introduce the new words: (cat, dog, bird, monkey, snake, bear.)
- Have students listen to each new word.
- Show the pictures of the part A on the projector and ask students to open the books.
- Play audio, and point to each flashcard for students to listen 
- Play audio again and have students point to the pictures in their books.
- Play audio again and have students listen and repeat. 
- Have students work in pairs, one of them points to the picture in the book and the 
other says the word. 
- Call some pairs to the board and check.
- Introduce the sentences pattern: I like (cats), This is a ( bear).
- Have Sts listen and repeat sometimes
- Have Sts use pictures to identify the color of objects in groups of six - Give comments
II. Practice
1. Listen and point. 
- Have Sts work in pairs. One says and another points. (use flashcards. )
- Give comments
2. Play “Stepping stones”. 
- Divide the class into pairs. 
- Have Student A start at A and say the first sentence, using “This is a ”. 
- Have Student B start at B and say the first sentence. 
- Have students take turns saying the sentences and go all the way round. 
- Continue the game in the same way.
3. Sing. 
- Play audio and have students listen.
- Have students turn to page 70.
- Read the lyrics as a whole class.
- Play audio again and have students listen and sing along.
III. Production
1. Play game : Listen and stand up.
- Give 6 flashcard (cat, dog, bird, snake, bear, monkey) to 6 students in the class.
- Invite 1 student to stand up and hold the flashcard up high and say a sentence, using 
“I like or This is a ” with name of an animal in the flashcard of the other friends.
- The boy/girl with the flashcard of the animal called will stand up and hold the 
flashcard up high and say a sentence, using “I like or This is a ” with name of an 
animal in the flashcard of the other friends.
- Teacher can give the flashcard from 1 student to another student during the activity.

* Warm up: Review
- Sing “What’s this? What’s that?” song
- Introduce the new lesson by showing the pictures (soccer, tag, hopscotch, hide-seek, 
ride my bike, read books, listen to music, eat snacks) on the board.
- Teacher tells the class the activities of the lesson.
I. Presentation
1. Teach vocabulary 
- Use body gesture to introduce the new words (soccer, tag, hopscotch, hide-seek, ride 
my bike, read books, listen to music, eat snacks, ). 
- Have students listen to each new word.
- Show the pictures of the part A on the projector and ask students to open the books.
- Play audio, and point to each flashcard for students to listen 
- Play audio again and have students point to the pictures in their books.
- Play audio again and have students listen and repeat.

- Have students look at the picture and identify the details. Ask some questions about 
the picture.
- Introduce the situation: “The children are playing together.”
- Play audio and have students look at the picture.
- Demonstrate the activity by pointing to the new vocabulary items.

- Ask pupils what does Bill ask Bobby to do? Let’s play tag.
-Teacher can give a situation to explain the sentence more:(teacher plays soccer alone

 Play "Simon says" game 
- Tell students they must only follow commands that start with "Simon says " (E.g. 
Simons says play tag.)
- Demonstrate the game by giving the students different commands. If the command 
starts with "Simon says " students must do the action. If it doesn’t start with "Simon 
says " students who do the action must sit down.
- Have one student come to the front of the class to be "Simon".
Swap roles and repeat with a new "Simon".

- Ask pupils to practice in pairs to act out the dialogue.
- Go round and check pupils can repeat and understand the dialogue.

- Read aloud the phrases in each picture for pupils to repeat.

- Give feedback and correct mistakes of pronunciation.
2. Let’s talk - Tell the class that they are going to practice further by asking and answering 
questions festivals.
- Get pupils time to work in pairs to ask and answer, using the structure.
- Invite a few pairs to act out their conversations in front of the class.

- Tell the class that they are going to listen to the recording and draw lines to match 
Pictures 1–3 with Pictures a–c.
