 GETTING STARTED
 Lesson 1( A, B, C)
A.OBJECTIVES
1. Knowledge:
By the end of this lesson, students will be able to say "Hello!" and "Goodbye!". 
2. Competences:
- Problems solving and creation
- Communication and cooperation
- Self-learning, independent working and pair work, group work
- Linguistic competence 
3. Quality:
- Hardworking
- Responsible 
- Honest
4. Skills: Listening and speaking skills 
5. Vocabulary: hello, goodbye
6. Grammar point: Hello,....

B. TEACHING AIDS
1. Teacher’s aids: Teacher’s book, chalk, board, ruler, projector/TV, laptop and 
flashcards, balls 
2. Students’ aids: Students’ books, workbooks, noterbooks
C. PROCEDURES
* Warm-up (5’)
- Sing and Dance. 
- Play “i-Learn Smart Start” song (from YouTube) and make gestures following the 
lyrics, have students stand up and make the gestures
* New lesson
I. Presentation
1.Teach vocabulary: (7’)
- Mime to introduce the new words (hello, goodbye).
- Have students listen to each new word.
- Show the pictures of the part A on the projector and ask students to open the books.
- Play audio, and point to each flashcard for students to listen 
- Play audio again and have students point to the pictures in their books.
- Play audio again and have students listen and repeat.
- Have students work in pairs, one of them points to the picture in the book and the 
other says the words. 
- Call some pairs to the board and check.
- Play the game “Who is faster?”. • Divide the class into groups. 
 • Arrange the flashcards on the board. 
 • Invite a student from each group to go to the board. 
 • Teacher says a word and the students run to tap the right card. 
2. Introduce sentence pattern: (5’)
- Pre- listening:Have students look at the picture, identify it and call out the things 
they can see. Ask some questions about the picture.Who is this? Where are they?
-While- listening:Play audio and have students listen and point. 
-Post- listening: Have students work in groups of two
II. Practice
 Listen and point. (8’)
- Pre- listening: Introduce the situation.
- While- listening: 
  Play audio and have students look at the picture.
  Demonstrate the activity by pointing at the words. 
 3. While-listening: Play the audio again. Have students listen and repeat.
- While-listening: Play audio again. Have students listen, repeat and point.
- Post- listening: Point at each word and have students call it out “hello/ goodbye.”
III. Production Now, sing a song. (7’)
- Play audio and have students listen.
- Play audio and have students turn to page 4.
- Play audio and have students sing the song as a whole class.
- Have some students sing in front of class.
D. HOME-LINK(3’)
- Practise saying “hello” and “ goodbye” to every one. 
- Practise singing .
- Prepare for part D, E.

- Review. Play the game “Flash look and say”. 
 • Teacher shows a flashcard quickly.
 • Students say that word.
*New lesson
- State the aims of the lesson
- Introduce the new lesson and write on the board.
I. Presentation
1.Review vocabulary and structure:(4’)
- Use some flashcards to review the vocabularies(hello, goodbye). 
II. Practice (18’)
1. Role-play. (10’)
- Say a name to the class.
- Have students practice the structure using the name.
- Repeat with other names. 
E.g. Teacher: "Bill" 
 Class: "Hello, Bill."
- Divide the class into pairs.
- Have pairs practice the conversations and swap roles.
- Have some pairs demonstrate the activity in front of the class.
2. Say. (8’)
- Divide the class into groups of four.
- Have students take turns saying “Hello!” and “goodbye!” to their friends.
- Have some groups demonstrate the activity in front of the class.
III. Production Now, sing a song. (5’)
- Review. Jump to say yes.
 • Ask the children to stand by their desks.
 • Hold up a flashcard from the vocabulary set (hello/goodbye) and say a word. • If the word is the same as the flashcard, they jump. If it isn’t, they stand still.
 • Alternatively, ask children to put their hands up if the word and the flashcard 
 are the same.
D. HOME-LINK(3’)
- Practise saying “hello” and “ goodbye” to every one. 
- Practise singing .
- Prepare for lesson 2 part A, B ,C.
